Characters

Characters, characters, characters—this is where I really come alive. I can get so lost in working on a character that I’ll forget to eat! When I’m sculpting, I get completely entranced, and my perfectionist side comes out. I love adding all the little details, especially in the face, and figuring out each character’s style and clothing. It’s such a creative process—designing personalities through their looks and telling a story with every detail. Every character feels like a new challenge, and I love bringing them to life in ways that feel real and unique.

LITTLE DRAGON
PERSONAL PROJECT

When I’ve got some free time, I like to work on character art. I’ve got so many characters saved on my art station that I want to do, and I’m always trying to practice and improve. This little guy actually reminds me of The Croods, and I love the style in that movie. I tried to mimic that look in my work. He also comes with a dragon, which I sculpted just to challenge myself. Unfortunately, he’s not done yet- but I’ll definitely finish him soon!

Singing Frog Studio
CHARACTER MODELING AND SURFACING ARTIST

Working at Singing Frog was such an exciting experience for me. It was my first time working on an animated movie, and since I’ve always loved animation and storytelling, it was a dream come true. I got to work on the characters, first as a sculptor and then as a surfacing artist. It was a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of an animation pipeline, which is so different from working in games. I really enjoyed being able to focus on high-resolution details, which was a nice change. Plus, it was awesome to see the characters come to life in a whole new way, adding depth and personality through animation!

I also worked as a surfacing artist for the characters, and one of my favorite parts was working on the drones. I created the original drones, then had a blast making silly versions for the ending scene. It was so much fun! I mainly used Substance Painter for the texturing, and I learned a ton about the workflow for texturing in an animation pipeline. It was cool to see how much attention to detail went into making sure everything looked perfect for the animation. Plus, it was amazing seeing all the textures come together and really bring the models to life in the final scenes.

mythical voltage
3D CHARACTER ARTIST

I worked at Mythical Voltage as a freelance artist, and it was my first professional character job, so I was super excited. Since it was for a game, I had to make sure the characters were optimized and ready for rigging. Creating characters for games is all about finding that sweet spot between looking good and running smoothly. It was awesome getting to work on characters that not only fit the style but also worked well in the game. I had a lot of fun seeing everything come together.

dIBS STUDIO
3D ARTIST

In the early stages of Dibs, the art style was more realistic, and we had a hippo character that I worked on. It was a fun challenge because even though the design was realistic, we had to keep the mesh low-poly for the game. Balancing that was tricky, but I’m really happy with how it turned out in the end.
